How to Support Indie Authors Even If You Haven't Read Their Book

Maybe there’s a local author in your area that you’d love to support, but you’re just not their target audience. I’ve definitely been in that situation since my books are either horror, which isn’t for everyone, or middle-grade fantasy, which is geared towards a specific age and type of interest. Here are some things you can do to support your local authors even if the books they write just aren’t for you.

  • Buy the book as a gift for a friend who would like it.

  • Donate the book to a public library.

  • Share info/posts about their books or any events they're doing.

  • Talk about it with friends and family who like that genre.

  • Ask local bookstores about events with that author.

  • If the book is geared toward a younger audience, give it to a school or classroom library.

Indie authors, comment links to your work and your genre. I also invite you to comment other ways that folks can support indie authors.
